IS YERBA MATE A PARAUGUAN TEA
[hfe_template id=’21705′]
WHY DO PEOPLE CALL YERBA MATE TEA?
As for the origin of the incorrect naming of yerba mate infusion, it is probably due to the significant predominance of tea’s popularity in our country. The similarity of brewing the infusion is actually one of the few. The difference between yerba mate and tea is that yerba mate infusion has much more health-promoting properties and is much more stimulating than traditional tea. The taste of both drinks is also completely different, yerba mate has a more herbal taste than traditional tea.
Fortunately, yerba mate is becoming more and more popular in our country and many people learn about the properties of dried yerba mate .

The term Paraguayan tea is very common . But is this a good description of yerba? Tea and mate certainly have common features, for example dried leaves and the way they are prepared, and both of them are associated with relaxation, aroma and pleasant taste.
Tea is an infusion prepared from the buds and leaves of plants called the same name, which belong to the genus Camellia , both plants are very similar to each other.
Camellia is a type of plant of Asian origin , which is, of course, far from South America.
So could this mean that calling yerba a Paraguayan tea is a mistake? Of course this is not a mistake, yerba mate and tea are very similar to each other, which is of course immediately visible. The most important thing is to provide the most effective information possible about this wonderful drink, yerba mate, and the benefits of consuming it. Even if some people call it tea!
So, although both drinks are similar, calling yerba mate a tea is sometimes considered inaccurate. Traditional teas come from completely different parts of the world than the Paraguayan holly , from which yerba mate is made. Both drinks also come from completely different cultures and were used for completely different things. Quite a paradox when it comes to nomenclature is that we could equally call any other drink, e.g. fruit, “fruit tea”. Many Paraguayans might get a little upset when someone calls their infusion tea 🙂 Therefore, let’s stick to the proper nomenclature, which is yerba mate .
